خلاصه يا چکيده : ‭needle aspiration and 15 patients agreed with FNA. Aspiration cytology included 2 samples (13.3 ) nondiagnostic, 10 samples (66.6 ) benign, 2 samples (13.3 ) follicular cell lesion and 1(6.6 ) hurtle cell neoplasm lesion. Conclusion: In this study almost 20 of patients have incidental thyroid nodule. Such incidentalomas are more common in women and older patients. Thyroid abnormalities in our study are higher than similar studies in other countries. This may be explained by iodine deficiency in last decades when our patients were child. Only 2 our patients were suspicious for malignancy. Because of their old age and related cardiovascular diseases the significance of these findings may be questioned of these patients are problematic. We conclude that thyroid evaluation during carotid sonography has little benefits. There are many controversies about management of these incidentalomas. We focused on incidental thyroid lesions during carotid ultrasound and evaluated their importance and suspected malignant features. Method: In all patients referred for carotid ultrasonography, thyroid was evaluated by ultrasonography too. If there was abnormal finding in thyroid ultrasound, patient was referred to endocrinologist and after clinical and laboratory evaluation, if to be necessary fine needle aspiration was done if required.
