خلاصه يا چکيده : ‭resistant primary dysmenorrhea. Key words: Acupuncture, Dysmenorrhea, Disability, VAS -inflammatory drugs are the main method of treatment of dysmenorrheal. Birth control pills and other treatments like acupuncture, electrical nerve stimulation of the skin (TENS) and psychotherapy are the other choice for treatments. According to that only 80 of cases are cured with drug treatments and given their side effects, we evaluate the effects of acupuncture in the treatment of primary dysmenorrhea. Methods: The study included women less than 25 years with primary dysmenorrhea referred to Imam Reza Hospital (gynecology and acupuncture clinic) who had the inclusion criteria of study. From 2 days before to three days after menarche (a total of five days) in three consecutive acupuncture points (CV6) San Yin Jiao (sp6), Zhong ji (CV3), Qi Hai Guan Yuan (CV4), Gui lai (ST29), Zn Sanli (ST36) performed by a specialist in Chinese medicine. The effect of acupuncture in the treatment of primary dysmenorrhea before and one month after treatment, the VAS pain and absence from work were compared. Results: The mean pain before treatment and one month after that was 63.60 and 18.47 respectively. Its reduction was statistically significant (Pvalue<0.001). Also the mean pain in the follow up period was 8.45 which was significantly less than the pain before treatment. The rate of absence from work was also reduced significantly after treatment. Conclution: According to the remarkable effectiveness of acupuncture in relieving pain in primary dysmenorrhea, it can be used as an alternative treatment for patients with drug-Background: Dysmenorrhea or painful mensturation, affects about 60 of women in menstural age and sometimes can cause a temporary inability.
