خلاصه يا چکيده : ‭control study 60 pemphigus patients who were reffered to Qaem and EmamReza clinics during September 2011 to September 2012 were chosen. The following parameters were studiedby means of questionnaire in patients and 60 healthy individuals as a control group: gender, age, occupation, diet and mercury exposure. Blood and urinary levels of mercury were measured in both groups. Duration of disease and treatment response was also evaluated in patients. Results: The mean level of urinary mercury was 4.84 -Introduction: Pemphigus is a group of chronic, autoimmune blistering disease of the mucous membranes and skin which is induced by antibodies against the cell surface of keratynocytes. Two major types of pemphigus are pemphigus vulgaris and pemphigus foliaceus. Considering the role of environmental factors such as UV, drugs, burn on activation and exacerbation of pemphigus and the fact that few studies have indicated possible role of mercury on this process, this study was designed to evaluate the relation between blood and urinary levels of mercury and pemphigus. Materials and Methods:In this pilot, case‬▒‭1.92 Microgram/L in pemphigus patients and 5.77‬ ▒‭2.85 in control group. The mean level of blood mercury was 1.44‬ ▒‭0.54 Microgram/L in pemphigus patients and 1.79‬ ▒‭1.07 in control group. There was not statistically significant difference for these markers between case and control groups (p=0.073 for urinary mercury and p=0.54 for blood mercury). Conclusions:According to this study, it is proposed that there is no significant difference between levels ofblood and urinary mercury in pemphigus patients and control group. Keywords: Chronic mercury exposure, Pemphigus Vulgaris, Pemphigus Foliaceus.‬
